The sound of police sirens in Texarkana, Ark., tonight means it's time for the annual Cops and Kids event at Four States
Fairgrounds.

Cops and Kids is an annual event where officers with the Texarkana, Ark., Police Department take local children from Texarkana Baptist Orphanage and Water Springs Ranch out for a Christmas
meal.

This year's dinner will be at 6 p.m. at Four States Fairgrounds Fine Arts
Building.

TAPD officers will meet at the station at 5 p.m. and form two convoys; one parade formation will travel to The Texarkana Baptist Orphanage and the other to Water Springs Ranch.

The children will ride with a police officer in a patrol car, with lights and sirens, to the Four States Fairgrounds.

The event takes place during the holiday season and it reinforces the positive aspects of community and police relationships, said Officer Kristi Bennett, spokeswoman for
TAPD.

"These kids look forward to this event every year and we anticipate greeting and feeding sixty kids," Bennett said.
