Ashdown students win business contests with business skills

Students in the Future Business Leaders Association at Ashdown High School recently won several competitions at the FBLA Spring Conference, held at the University of Arkansas at Hope.

Senior Isaac Thomas, current District IV president, gave a farewell address, and Aliyah Anderson gave a candidate speech and was installed as District IV secretary.

In April, the following students will represent the district at the state competition, which will be held at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock:

  • Carsen Jefferies, first place in Computer Problem Solving
  • Amy Newton, Chelbi Gathright and Robin Roy, first place in Introduction to Business Presentations
  • Aliyah Anderson, first place in Electronic Career Portfolio
  • Alexus Hopkins and T. J. Gist, first place in Hospitality Management
  • Molly Parker, first place in Introduction to Public Speaking
  • Kaianna Donato, Alex Day and Austin Royal, second place in Entrepreneurship
  • Chris Oglesby, second place in Business Ethics
  • Isaac Thomas, third place in Public Speaking
  • Alex Simmons, fourth place in Business Calculations
  • Isaac Cross, fifth place in Business Law
  • Joshua Linnett, sixth place in Introduction to Financial Calculations
  • Taneka Hamilton, A'Darrius Hamilton and Jasmine Richard, fifth place in Emerging Business Issues
