Brothers accused of sexual misconduct with a girl their mother used to babysit entered pleas of not guilty at separate hearings Tuesday in Bowie County.
Greggory Scott Beckom, 37, and Ricky Devaughn Beckom, 40, appeared for arraignment hearings Tuesday before 102nd District Judge Bobby Lockhart. The men allegedly abused the girl separately and continuously beginning when the girl was a 4-year-old, according to probable cause affidavits used to create the following account. Both men were indicted earlier this month for the continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14. The offense is punishable by 25 to 99 years or life in prison.
The allegations against the Beckoms came to light in November when the mother of a now 14-year-old girl reported that her daughter said the brothers sexually abused her when she would spend the night at their home as a young child. During an interview at the Children's Advocacy Center in Texarkana, the girl described multiple assaults by Greggory Beckom at three different Texarkana apartment complexes beginning when she was 4 and ending when she was 7 or 8.
Greggory Beckom allegedly confessed to sexually abusing the girl on multiple occasions during an interview with Texarkana, Texas, investigators Nov. 15. Ricky Beckom allegedly denied any wrongdoing during an interview with detectives on the same date.
"Then he stated that the victim never stayed the night and stated 'no' to all of my questions before I could ask the entire question," the affidavit states.
During her interview at Children's Advocacy Center, the girl alleged being assaulted by Ricky Beckom approximately 10 times while she was between the ages of 6 and 8.
Both men are being held in the Bowie County jail. Lockhart scheduled Greggory Beckom and Ricky Beckom to appear in court for pretrial hearings Feb. 9.
