LITTLE ROCK-Forecasters say bitterly cold temperatures will linger in Arkansas through Thursday after snow and icy conditions closed schools and businesses throughout much of the state.
The National Weather Service says snow and ice that melted under sunny skies on Tuesday will refreeze in sub-freezing temperatures overnight, resulting in patches of ice.
Forecasters say temperatures early Wednesday will be at or near zero in northern Arkansas and conditions will remain cold in the southern and eastern parts of the state.
Temperatures will likely remain below freezing for most of the state before conditions begin warming beginning Thursday.
Forecasters say temperatures in central and southern Arkansas are expected to climb into the 40s by the weekend and that there is a chance of thunderstorms on Sunday.
