Local businessman to run for spot on Arkansas-side board

Local restaurateur Claude Moore has announced his candidacy for the Ward 3 seat on the Texarkana, Ark., Board of Directors.

Moore owns and operates Cafe 511 in Texarkana. He serves on and is a former chairman of the city's Advertising and Promotion Commission.

Moore is a native Texarkanian who graduated from Arkansas High School in 1988, according to a campaign news release. He went on to serve for five years in the Navy and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield.

According to the release, Moore is a former member of the Sugarland, Texas, Planning Commission; director of Arkansas Heart Hospital; and banker with Merrill Lynch, Paine Webber and Malachi Financial of Atlanta, Ga. He has assisted and volunteered with projects such as the Argenta development in downtown North Little Rock and is a partner in a construction business. He has volunteered with the Martin Luther King Jr. commission in Little Rock.

Ward 3 Director Tim Johnson announced Jan. 9 that he will not seek re-election in November. Moore is the only candidate for the seat so far.
