Senator honored: John Boozman's representation of his constituents wins recognition

Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark., has received an award recognizing his office's outstanding service to those he represents.

Boozman won a 2018 Democracy Award for Constituent Service from the Congressional Management Foundation, the organization announced Tuesday.

The award "focuses on how an office interacts with and serves constituents," especially how it uses consistent processes to do so, according to CMF's website.

The organization cited Boozman's involvement in the Veterans History Project, his Facebook video instructing constituents about how to get help from his office and his office's practice of assigning each staffer a partner to help coordinate responses to constituents.

"As a Democracy Award winner, Sen. Boozman's office is clearly one of the best in Congress," said Bradford Fitch, president and CEO of CMF.

"This designation demonstrates that Sen. Boozman has made a significant commitment to being the best public servant for his constituents in Arkansas. Sen. Boozman and his staff are to be congratulated for not only being a model for his colleagues in Congress but for helping to restore trust and faith that our democratic institutions can work."

Congressional offices nominated themselves for the award and provided supporting documents to CMF.

A review committee then conducted more than 70 interviews and evaluated additional supporting material to select finalists. A committee comprising primarily former members of Congress and staff selected the winners, one Democrat and one Republican in each award category, in a blind review process.

All winners and finalists will be honored at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on July 13.

The Congressional Management Foundation is a nonpartisan nonprofit whose mission is to build trust and effectiveness in Congress.
