Miller County Judge Roy John McNatt intends to repair and pave county roads during the next six months, including the one that extends to his property.

"We're paving all the roads we can in the area and one of the roads, County Road 378, which is part of my property," he said. "We have 900 miles of county roads and we're going to repair as many roads as possible in the next six months."

McNatt, a dairy farmer, will leave the judge's office on Dec. 31.

"My cows are going to have a smooth ride to market because of the road improvements," he said.

Some residents have complained about McNatt paving roads near his property, he said.

"We're coming as fast as we can to pave as many roads as we can," he said.

"I will guarantee you after we pave the roads, I will get calls about putting speed bumps on the roads. I've told people the potholes served as speed bumps," McNatt said.

"We have the budget for roads and the money is set aside. We're going to pave as many roads as possible in the next six months," he said.

In May's primary, McNatt lost to challenger Cathy Hardin Harrison, who is currently Miller County tax collector. She will become the next county judge on Jan. 1.
