Two people arrested in animal cruelty case

Two people face charges of animal cruelty after two dogs were found dead inside a local home.

Magan Terry and Brandon Woody both face felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges according to Texarkana, Ark., Animal Control. The couple were arrested Thursday in Texarkana, Texas, officials said.

The dogs were found a couple of weeks ago, said Texarkana Animal Care and Adoption Center Director Charles Lokey.

Investigators believe the dogs had been locked in a room at the house on Dudley Street for several weeks.

"The dogs had been left in the house for a long time and died from heat stroke or starvation," Lokey said.

Lokey said animal control officers had to use breathing apparatus because the conditions inside the house were so bad.

Animal control officers responded to the house after the couple's other dog showed up at the city shop. Lokey said that dog was severely infested with parasites and did not survive.

The house has been tagged as uninhabitable.
