A special concert by local group the Dusty Rose Band on July 27 will benefit the Texarkana, Texas, Shop with a Cop and Firefighter program.
The concert will be at Scottie's Grill. It is free, but donations will go toward SWACAF. Scottie's Grill is also donating 10 percent of its proceeds from the day to the program.
Shop with a Cop and Firefighter is an annual event held in early December during which police and firefighters partner with Target and Child Protective Services to provide 100 local disadvantaged children with a Christmas. On the day of the event, each child is paired with a police officer or firefighter and given $100 to spend on whatever they want.
"Please mark your calendar now for great food, a free concert and the chance to support a wonderful cause," said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for Texas-side police.
Texarkana, Texas, Shop with a Cop and Firefighter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so all donations to the program are tax-deductible.
