Heavy rain today resulted in flooding on local streets, according to police.

The underpass on West Seventh Street was closed about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for Texarkana, Texas, Police Department.

One car has stalled out at West 40th and Potomac streets. There also was flooding on  Robin Lane, Robison Road and a parking lot near Oaklawn Village.

There was some flooding in low places, in Texarkana, Ark., but nothing major, according to police.

"If you come upon water standing on the roadway, don't chance it. It may be a lot deeper than it looks," Vaughn said.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue to develop tonight according to the National Weather Service. Heavier amounts range from 1/2 to 3/4 inch per hour.

About 960 AEP-Swepco customers in Texarkana were without power this afternoon, but most outages had been repaired by 9 p.m.
