At 700 E. Broad St. downtown, next to a sign that reads "Rockin WH Ranch Companies," workers are clearing out the building to make room for the Contemporary Concepts granite shop.
"We'll be specializing in fabricating-mostly with minerals like granite, quartz and the like-countertops, showers and such," Dexter Hughes said.
His son, Dustin, is the owner. Both are Texarkana natives.
Dustin has a shop at 114 S. Lelia Ave. where they do cabinet and granite work.
"We've decided to move the granite fabrication shop to this new address, but the cabinet shop will remain where it is," Dexter said.
Work began two weeks ago at the new site, and they expect to open for business in about two months or less.
"We've wanted to expand for awhile," Dexter said. " We want to come down to historic downtown, and these buildings have historic value. We will keep the historic look with our new business."
