A Wake Village, Texas, mother has been arrested in the death of her 4-year-old son.

Khadijah LaShawn Wright, 25, was taken into custody Thursday morning. She is charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury/death by omission in the death of D'Money Lewis.

The charge is a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in state prison.

Bail was pending Thursday evening.

Benearl Jermane Lewis, 24, D'Money's father, was arrested during a traffic stop March 10 and charged with capital murder in his son's death. Bail has been set at $1 million.

D'Money died March 8. According to an affidavit, his parents were taking him to the hospital on March 6 when they came upon a traffic accident being worked by Texarkana, Texas, police. They reportedly told police they had an unresponsive child in the car who was not breathing.

D'Money was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center by ambulance while in cardiac arrest. After initial treatment, he was transferred to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

Wadley staff told Wake Village police investigators the child was suffering from bleeding in the brain and bruising to his back and chest.

An autopsy showed brain damage, including a "space occupying subdural hematoma."
