Texarkana, Ark., Walmart has launched a new online grocery pickup program.

The service will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, said Amanda Young, Arkansas-side Walmart assistant manager.

Customers can place an order online, and employees will deliver the order to the vehicles in selected parking zones, Young said.

In marketing the program, Walmart lists those who would likely benefit from the new service:

  • Busy people of all ages
  • People who hate standing in line
  • People whose children hate grocery shopping
  • Anyone who needs assistance to run errands
  • Travelers arriving home on a Sunday night to have food to make Monday school lunches.
  • The online grocery pickup program can save money and reduce impulse shopping.

"It's better service for the customers," Young said.

Customers can let Walmart know when they will arrive at the store, she said.

Grocery pickup is also available at Walmart on New Boston Road in Texarkana, Texas, according to the retailer's website. For more information, go to grocery.walmart.com.
