Public hearings, rezoning focus of meeting

The Texarkana, Texas, City Council will conduct public hearings and vote on various rezoning and permitting matters during its regular meeting Monday.

Residents may voice their opinions on:

  •  granting a special use permit to allow the application of permanent cosmetics at 5602 Richmond Road;
  •  two rezoning requests and two special use permits to allow the outside sales, storage and display of automobiles, boats and RVs where North Kenwood Road and Franklin Street dead end;
  •  rezoning 2916 Pleasant Grove Road to allow a karate school and other sports-related facilities there; and
  •  revoking a previous special use permit for 2817 New Boston Road and granting a new one to allow a tattoo studio there.

The council will also consider authorizing the first steps toward annexing seven areas of land into the city limits, specifically, creating plans to extend city services into those areas.

The meeting includes an open forum during which members of the public may address the council on any topic for up to five minutes each.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 220 Texas Blvd.
