An all-day "Sacred Harp Singing" will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the historic Washington Methodist Church in Washington, Ark.
"Sacred harp singing is a form of singing developed in the 19th century to teach people how to sing. The singing is all done a capella," church spokesman Joshua Williams said. "It is a unique singing style that is still practiced throughout the South. It is very likely that it was practiced in the Ark-La-Tex region in the early 19th century by different church groups."
