Salvation Army residents to get discounts on bus passes

Local Salvation Army residents or aid recipients who are part of the organization's Pathway Of Hope program, will soon get discounted monthly bus boarding passes from the Texarkana Urban Transit District.

T-Line's Board of Directors agreed Thursday to offer monthly bus boarding passes, which will help Salvation Army residents or program aid recipients with getting transportation to work sites, job interviews or job hunts, said Salvation Army Office Manager Brenda Hogan.

Instead of costing the regular price of $40 per month, T-Line will offer the boarding passes for half price at $20. However, board members stipulated that there be a maximum of five passes issued per month. They also stipulated the Salvation Army pay for the discounted passes rather than having the users pay for them.

Board members will meet again June 21.
