The air conditioning units at the vacant Gander Mountain store at Interstate 30 and University Drive have been stripped of wire and vandalized.

Suspects stole all the copper from the units and caused about $30,000 in damage to the units, according to a Texarkana, Texas, Police Department report.

A Realtor, who checks the building daily, noticed a ladder standing against the wall on the northeast side of the building and asked the maintenance person to look at it on Sept. 26. When they got the chance to check on it the next day, they discovered the five air conditioner units on the roof had been damaged and all the copper removed. Several of the copper drain pipes on the building were cut and removed as well.

Because of the daily checks that were being made, police believe the vandalism took place between Sept. 25 and Sept. 27. Considering the amount of copper taken, it probably required several trips to get it all, officials think.

If anyone noticed any vehicles or people around the building during that time frame, please call TTPD at 903-798-3116.
