Upcoming conference will help area students plan for future employment

The Southwest Arkansas Development Alliance will host "Explore Success," a young manufacturing conference next week for area eighth graders.

The SADA will be in partnership with the Southwest Arkansas Education Cooperative, and approximately 1,000 students from Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada and Sevier counties will attend the event scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Arkansas at Hope's Hempstead Hall, 2500 South Main St.

"The goal of Explore Success is to enable students to learn first-hand information from industry and manufacturing leaders about requirements for obtaining local jobs, and thus better plan for success in their futures," SADA President Steve Harris said.

College representatives will be on-hand to answer questions and speak to students on a variety of secondary education options, along with manufacturers, who will provide insight into what area employers seek in an incoming workforce.
