The district's announcement of the hoax was placed on its Facebook page about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The post reads:

"A rumor of a threat on Texas High School was posted on social media. It was brought to our attention and through our partnership with Texarkana, Texas Police Department (TTPD) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), we have now identified the person(s) responsible for the post. It indeed was a hoax.

"From the time we were made aware of the threat, we have followed our Crisis Management protocol and worked closely with our TISD Police Department, TTPD and FBI to not only identify those responsible but to also increase security at Texas High School.

Our top priority is always the safety of our students. We will not allow threats of this nature to be made as a prank and will discipline all students to the fullest extent."

The Facebook post was addressed to TISD parents and guardians.
