The Miller County, Ark., branch of the NAACP will host a candidates' forum and straw poll Thursday.
Candidates for Texarkana, Ark., mayor and Board of Directors, as well as for county Justice of the Peace, District 2, will make presentations and take questions from the public. Attendees will then take part in a straw poll, and organizers will
announce the results.
The event will be held at Jamison's Center of Kindness, 1101 Couch St. on the Arkansas side. Socializing is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the straw poll and a meet-and-greet with the candidates from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Early voting begins Oct. 22, and Election Day is Nov. 6.
