Man arrested in armed robbery of title loan office

A 35-year-old Texas-side man has been arrested in a holdup that happened Tuesday morning at a business on New Boston Road, police said.

Reginald Peoples was charged with aggravated robbery for allegedly robbing Texas Car Title at gunpoint around 10 a.m. in the 1600 block of New Boston Road.

Officers were dispatched to the report of the robbery at 10:09 a.m. Two female employees told officers that a man came into the business and pulled out a gun while demanding money, according to press release from Texarkana, Texas, Police Department. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash from the business, he ordered the employees to lay down on the floor while he made his escape, police said.

Detectives used surveillance video from inside Texas Car Title and other businesses in the area to get pictures of the suspect to distribute to officers. A patrol officer identified Peoples from an encounter about two weeks before, and detectives were able to get a warrant for his arrest, the press release states.

Detectives found Peoples in a vehicle at his residence Wednesday morning and arrested him. He was taken to the Bi-State Justice Building jail without incident, police said. He remains in custody with a bond of $50,000.
