Development council set to hold public hearing Sept. 18

The Central Arkansas Development Council will host a public hearing "Bridging the Gaps of Arkansas" at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 18 in the Sandflat-Glendale-Shannon Neighborhood Center in Texarkana, Ark.

The center is at 209 E. 14th St.

The public hearing will discuss CADC's proposed purpose and strategies for its 19-county service area for Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2019.

"The primary purpose for conducting the hearing is to find out what areas in our communities need improvement," said Evelyn Reed, spokesperson.

"Gathering input from the community is a condition of funding for the Community Services Block Grant which funds Community Action Agencies nationwide," she said.

CADC wants input for its service area of Saline, Hot Springs, Pike, Clark, Montgomery, Pulaski, Lonoke, Dallas, Union, Columbia, Ouachita, Miller, Little River, Sevier, Hempstead, Lafayette, Nevada, Howard and Calhoun counties.

"The public is encouraged to attend and voice their questions and concerns," Reed said.

"The mission of CADC is to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty, to help vulnerable populations achieve their potential and to build strong communities in Arkansas through community action," she said.
