Four States Fair begins today

The "Fun Comes Home" to the 75th annual Four State's Fair and Rodeo at the fairgrounds in Texarkana, Ark.

The fair fun ranges from food and ice cream to an equipment rodeo and a demolition derby, said Lisa Barr, chief operating officer for the Four States Fair.

The fair is located at Loop 245 and East 50th Street and the opening day is today.

Facebook and the fair brochure will provide a time frame of activities available daily from Sept. 14 to Sept. 23.

The fair fun includes include Burt Fleming, a chainsaw artist, displaying his creative skills using a chainsaw.

Texarkana Tractor presents an "equipment rodeo" in then entertainment center. Watch local operators compete to see who the best operator in the Four States area. They will compete in various skill tests and equipment, Barr said.

The 28th annual Red River Wrecker will host the demolition derby in the Four States Fair Fairground Center starting at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15.

The Dierksen Hospice Senior Citizens Day will be Sunday, Sept. 16 for seniors 55 years old and older with free gate admission and free activities in the Ida Lou Ames Home Arts Building.

Road Runner will sponsor the $1 ride date at the fair Monday, Sept. 17.

The "back the badge day" will be Tuesday, Sept. 18 to show support for the First Responders. First Responders can show their ID badges and can enter the fair for free, she said.

Every day of the fair, the Ag Learning Center will be open with exhibits, games and activities for the kids. The N.B. Finley's Barnyard will be open and help children find games.

The Wrights Amusements will be open on the midway everyday.

The Four States Fair Parade will be Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. in downtown Texarkana USA.

The Ram PRCA Rodeo will present Classic Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

The rodeo will be Thursday through Saturday Sept. 20-22. Doors open nightly at 6:30 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 7:30 p.m.

Another fair event will be "pig races" at the Ag Learning Center. The pig races include weekdays 5:30 p.m.; 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The pig races Saturday will be noon, 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The pig races Sunday will at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
