Juvenile arrested for alleged terroristic threats at Arkansas High

 

A 17-year-old juvenile has been arrested on charges of terroristic threats first degree for allegedly threatening other students at Arkansas High School.

Texarkana, Ark., police received information about 6 p.m. Tuesday in reference to threats made by a student in a classroom during school hours, said Officer Kristi Bennett, TAPD spokeswoman.

After an initial investigation, it was determined the suspect made several alleged threats of violence toward students and the school district during his eighth-period class. Threat Investigator Rick Cockrell spoke with several witnesses who corroborated statements of the alleged threats.

An arrest warrant for terroristic threats first degree was issued and the suspect was located and arrested at his residence about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Bennett said.

"The TAPD will continue to aggressively pursue any reported threats within the community to determine if a serious crime has taken place. If a credible threat has been made the parties responsible will be arrested.without exception," Bennett said.
