The Texarkana, Ark., Board of Directors will consider authorizing a contract to clean and paint
the water main on the Index Bridge at the Red River when it meets Monday night for its regular
meeting.

"It needs a paint job. It's rusty right now and has never been painted," said Texarkana Water Utilities Executive Director J.D. Phillips.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall at East Third and Walnut streets.

If approved, the contract to clean and paint the 42-inch steel water main would be with Champion Tank Services LLC of Minnesota in the amount of $79,500. The city's portion would be $29,566.05 according to agenda
materials.

The project was budgeted in TWU's 2018-2019 budget in the Millwood Water Treatment Plant Depreciation
Fund.

The project will consist of cleaning the existing 42-inch steel water main and painting about 2,400 linear feet of the steel water main across the Red River Bridge on U.S.
Highway 71.

Phillips said the water main will be painted white and the project could start in November, pending insurance and
bonds.

Champion Tank Services LLC has satisfactorily completed several jobs for TWU, including painting
the interior of the Fourth Street and College Hill elevated water tanks and the exterior of the Arkansas Boulevard elevated water tank, TWU Executive Director J.D. Phillips stated in agenda
materials.

The city manager and TWU staff recommend approval, according to agenda materials.

In other business, the board will consider adopting a resolution to authorize the city manager to award a construction contract for Hastings Crossing and William Greer Road Rehabilitation to Wiley Calhoon Co.
