Regional organization that supports first responders plans auction in May

NASHVILLE, Ark.-A Southwest Arkansas organization that helps families of fallen or injured first responders will hold a fundraiser and silent auction May 18 at Nashville City Park.

The Arkansas Families of Fallen Officers Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the families of all first responders who are killed or die in the line of duty in the state of Arkansas, said President Richard Curry of Nashville, Ark.

The goal for 2019 is to raise $50,000, Curry said. The organization has already held a couple of fundraisers this year, including one for injured Arkansas State Police Trooper Clayton McWilliams.

The event starts at 10 a.m. Auction items are needed for the May 18 event, Curry said.

"It's an all-day silent auction. And we are looking for people to donate items that can be auctioned off.

"We are looking at anything that will bring a good price," Curry said.

A memorial parade will be held at 1 p.m. on May 18.

For more information or to donate items, can contact Curry at 870-557-6813.

Arkansas Families of Fallen Officers has a bank account at Diamond Bank in Nashville.

"Our intentions are to raise money but my main concern is opening people's eyes to how many people we do lose and how to remember them and their families," he said.
