People in Texarkana and the surrounding areas will soon have a new option for health care. Lansdell Family Clinic opens Monday at 3809 E. Ninth St. Suite 15 in Texarkana, Ark.
The clinic, which will provide primary and urgent care, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Most insurance is accepted including Medicaid and Medicare.
"We want to be accessible for people even after business hours," said Mick Martin, officer manager for Lansdell Family Clinic. "People work for a living. We want to make sure they don't have to miss work. I think accepting Medicaid and Medicare will be a good thing. A lot of urgent care or the 24-hour emergency rooms don't do Medicaid or Medicare and if you go to an actual hospital you have to wait for hours sometimes because they're usually pretty busy."
The clinic is Texarkana is the fourth for the company, which also has locations in DeQueen and Dierks, Ark., and in Ada, Okla.
Tawnya Lansdell is the owner.
"She (Tawnya) has been a practitioner since 2012 and her goal was to make health care more accessible. Many clinics don't accept certain insurances. She wanted to accept all insurance so we'd be accessible for the whole family," Martin said.
The clinic will see patients of any age and walk-ins.
"We do urgent care if you have cuts, scrapes, bruises, the flu, dehydration or things of that nature. We can also do primary care if you want to establish there and get routine healthcare done here," Martin said.
Opening the clinic will create eight to 10 jobs, possibly more moving forward. Providers will be Nurse Practitioners Wendy Gammon and Sam Nix.
"We're all excited and looking forward to getting to know everybody in the community and helping everybody in Texarkana area get better health care," he said.
