Prescott teacher accused of sexually assaulting student

PRESCOTT, Ark. - Prescott Police Department and the Arkansas State Police arrested Leona Nivens on Tuesday morning after a joint investigation concerning alleged improper sexual contact between Nivens and a 15-year-old high school student, according to the police department.

Prescott Police Department said it arrested Nivens, 33, of Prescott, at her home without incident, the press release stated. She was charged with sexual assault in the second degree.

Nivens, who is a high school teacher at Prescott High School, has been placed on administrative leave by the school district and is pending the outcome of the investigation.
