Texarkana, Texas' Winsupply Co., a waterworks distributor company, recently transitioned from a satellite office to a locally owned location.

"We sell and supply water and sewer utility pipe fittings, fire hydrants, culvert and drainage products," said Stephen Ferguson, owner and president of Winsupply's local presence.

Ferguson helped Winsupply get established in Texarkana about a year ago with his eye on a bigger dream.

"Really the thing that made me decide to go with Winsupply was they are laid out or planned for ownership. We have a corporate (support with) Winsupply through a major, national company. But they run each location as an independently owned company with all support and benefits of the national site also, " he said.

Winsupply is based in Moraine, Ohio, and has 600 locations in 45 states, according to the Dayton Business Journal.

Locally, Winsupply is located at 6000 W. Seventh St. and supports other local businesses, Ferguson said.

"We sell the product. We have close working relationships with JCM Industries and Smith Blair and we sell their products and help support them that way," Ferguson said.

Winsupply primarily sells to contractors and municipalities within a 100-125 radius, he said. But they also sell items like drainage and culvert pipe to the general public.

Ferguson describes these sorts of business as a hidden industry.

Winsupply's Texarkana location employs four people and serves a 100-125 mile radius is covered, he said.

Ferguson is an Arkansas High School and Texas A&M University-Texarkana alum.

"I've been in the waterworks and utility industry for going on eight years and have played different roles. I started in the warehouse and worked my up since then through different regional roles with different suppliers," he said.

Ferguson says that starting out where he did in the business was a great way to get to know things from one end of the pipe to the other.

Winsupply officials are happy to have Ferguson representing the company in Texarkana.

"Stephen made the bold decision to invest in his own Winsupply company after getting valuable experience as a general manager for Little Rock Winwater," Monte Salsman, president of Winsupply Local Company Group told the Dayton Business Journal. "He's really excited to own his own company."

Winsupply Inc. reported $3.7 billion in revenue in fiscal 2019 year ending Jan. 31. The company employs a total of 6,600 workers nationally, according to the
