Police: No evidence of a link among recent local shootings

There is no indication that three recent shooting incidents in Texarkana, Texas, are related, according to Texarkana, Texas, police.

Between July 21 and July 27, two people were killed and four others injured in the shootings.

"There is no evidence that shows any type of connection. They appear to be three separate incidents," said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for TTPD.

All three shootings remain under investigation. One arrest has been made in the most recent shooting, which occurred on Milam Street.

The first shooting was a double homicide that happened late July 21.

When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman dead inside the one-story, white, wood-frame house at 202 Connella St. The two cousins, Ensley Robinson III, 38, and Patrice Danielle Williams, 34, appeared to have been shot multiple times, Vaughn said.

Connella Street is located about six blocks north of New Boston Road.

Less than a week later, a man underwent emergency surgery early July 26 after an overnight shooting at a house in the 1600 block of West 16th Street.

Officers were dispatched to the residence at 3:29 a.m. and found the 38-year-old victim inside the house suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Vaughn said.

Officers learned that a small group of people were gathered at the house when three unknown men armed with pistols entered the house and demanded money. One of the suspects shot the victim and fled in an unknown direction. All but one of the people in the house left before officers' arrival, Vaughn said.

The victim was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center for the surgery and is expected to recover.

The third and most recent shooting on July 27 resulted from an altercation in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Milam Street and left three men suffering non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The shooting is believed to have been the continuation of an altercation that occurred earlier in the evening. The three victims were treated at local hospitals.

Officers were dispatched to the area shortly after 11 p.m. July 27 and found a 17-year-old man lying in the front yard of a residence in the 1500 block of Milam, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Minutes later, a second gunshot victim arrived at the hospital seeking medical treatment. The 24-year-old man had been shot in both a leg and an arm. Officers also learned the next day that a third victim involved in this incident had driven himself to a hospital in Hope, Arkansas, for treatment.

During the initial investigation, officers found bullet holes on the north side of a house in the 1400 block of Milam Street. One weapon and numerous shell casings were also recovered at the scene.

Detectives believe the two groups involved in the earlier altercation shot at each other from the yards of the two houses. They are still investigating.

Joedacie Smith, 26, turned himself in to police on Thursday after a felony warrant alleging aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was issued for him, Vaughn said. Smith is being held in the Bi-State Jail, where his bond has been set at $100,000.

Anyone with information on any of these crimes is asked to contact the TTPD at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
