TEXARKANA, Texas-A local woman died in a house fire Sunday afternoon on Belt Road. Kristy Pearcy, 51, was found in an apartment, said Texarkana, Texas, Fire Marshal Chris Black.
One of the woman's dogs also died in the fire, according to Texarkana, Texas, Fire Department.
The fire happened about 1 p.m. Sunday in an upstairs apartment in the 600 block of Belt Road, according to TTFD. The bottom-floor tenant noticed smoke coming from his bathroom, went upstairs and found the second-floor apartment filled with smoke.
Firefighters found the woman unresponsive. Her body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
Investigators believe the fire was accidental.
