Miller County bridge to be closed for replacement

MILLER COUNTY, Arkansas - County Road 41 bridge over Chicken Creek will be closed for replacement on Monday.

All traffic will be detoured away from the construction zone while the bridge is closed and under construction.

Miller County Judge Cathy Hardin-Harrison is advising the public to observe all signs and barricades and to use extreme caution when traveling in the area.

She said the bridge needs replacement due to deterioration and a road wash-out from spring rainfall.

It is being replaced with funds from a $245,000 in-kind Hazard Mitigation grant from the state, which requires the county to pay only half of the project. Once the month-long project is completed by Allen Smith, LLC, the bridge will be 20 feet longer and three inches higher.

The county will also soon replace the bridges on Miller County Roads 43 and 80.
