TEXARKANA, Ark. - Last weekend's Clear the Shelters event at the Animal Care and Adoption Center resulted in adoptions for 14 dogs and four cats, and some discounted adoptions are still available.
Enough sponsor donations are left to help pay for about eight to 10 more adoptions, Animal Services Director Charles Lokey said.
Discounted adoption packages include spaying or neutering, rabies vaccination, and microchipping for only the basic adoption fee, $40 for dogs and $20 for cats.
Clear the Shelters is an annual nationwide pet adoption campaign organized by the NBC and Telemundo television networks.
