SRBA to hold workshop on funding pact before regular meeting today

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas - The Sulphur River Basin Authority's Board of Directors will hold a workshop on their funding agreement today prior to their regular meeting.

The workshop will be held at 11 a.m. and the meeting will be held at 1 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center, 1800 N. Jefferson.

Directors will consider amendments to the agreement, which is with the Joint Commission for Program Development, comprised of five entities in the Dallas Metroplex seeking water for their growing populations.

JCPD includes the City of Dallas, the City of Irving, North Texas Municipal Water District, Tarrant Regional Water District and the Upper Trinity Water District.

The current contract has been in place since May 2013 and is the river authority's sole source of income, aside from state funding for the Clean Rivers Program. SRBA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1985 but was not given a funding source.

Directors will also consider the 2020 annual budget, the feasibility study and amendment to the interlocal agreement the authority has with Texarkana College for the Clean Rivers program.
