TEXARKANA - The 35th annual Main Street Texarkana Christmas parade on Monday will follow a slightly different route than in recent years.

After traveling from Hazel Streeet down Broad Street and crossing North State Line Avenue from Arkansas into Texas, the parade will turn right onto Main Street.

Past parades have gone farther down Broad and turned right onto Texas Boulevard.

After turning onto Main, the parade will proceed to West Third Street and turn right. The final turn will be a left onto State Line. The parade will end in front of the downtown federal courthouse and post office.

The parade is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Monday.

This year's theme is "A Twice As Nice Christmas." More than 100 floats are scheduled to take part, built by various groups, churches, businesses and schools. A panel of judges including Texarkana Gazette editor Les Minor will choose the best floats in several categories.

The Arkansas High School ROTC color guard will lead the parade, followed closely by three camels. In the final float, Santa Claus himself will usher in the Christmas season.

Sponsors of this year's parade include the Patterson Troike Foundation, Young and Thornton Insurance and Financial Services, and Fox Sports Radio Texarkana.
