Worship place armed response class offered

TEXARKANA, Ark.-An advanced armed response for the worship place class is being offered Dec. 14 by the Texarkana, Arkansas, Police Department.

The class is all day and can accommodate 16 students.

Prerequisites:

Must be a part of a religious entities security detail.

Recommended by entities religious leader

Have attended and completed TAPD's basic armed response for the worship place course.

Able to pass a background check

Required Equipment should include a good attitude, open mind, pen and paper, duty gear, body armor (if applicable), groin protection, and appropriate clothing for "force-on-force" training (long sleeve shirt, gloves, etc.) Head, eye, and throat protection will be provided by TAPD.

The course is designed to prepare the armed responder to isolate, distract, and neutralize an active attacker while in a worship setting. This course will cover life-saving movements and tactics, threshold evaluation, concepts and principles of team movement, setting up for and room entry techniques, approach and breaching the crisis site, secondary responder tactics, improvised explosive devices, and after-action priorities of work. The course will culminate with forceonforce scenarios.
