Secretary of the Army Mark Esper toured Red River Army Depot today, ahead of deciding whether to assign the depot new work repairing armored vehicles.
Rep. John Ratcliffe and other representatives of both Texarkanas' congressional delegations accompanied Esper as he saw RRAD's operations and met workers there in person.
Maintaining a steady, solid workflow at the depot is the Army's goal, Esper said during a news conference afterward.
He will decide whether to make RRAD the source of repair for the Army's Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle in coming months, Esper said.
"A renaissance is under way in the U.S. Army," he said.
