Traffic stop leads to narcotics arrest in Texarkana

Two men were arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 30 Tuesday night that resulted in police confiscating marijuana and ecstasy.

Texarkana Arkansas Police Officer Dakota Easley arrested Dewayne Franklin, 21, of Wheatfield. Conn., and Jermany Tiswell, 25, of Marianna Ark., after discovering 10 pounds of marijuana, four pounds of THC oil, and ecstasy during a traffic stop at 11:30 pm. Tuesday.

Easley pulled over a blue Hyundai Accent for following to close to an 18-wheeler at the five-mile marker on I-30 Eastbound. As Easley approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver, a strong odor of burning marijuana was emitting from inside.

Easley requested backup due to the occupants behaving suspiciously. One of the occupants advised officers that his friend had marijuana in the vehicle. During the vehicle search, Officers located Narcotics and THC oil in sealed bags contained in a suitcase.

Both Franklin and Tiswell were arrested and charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
