Texarkana College's Board of Trustees will meet at 11 a.m. Monday to consider taking $10 million in maintenance tax notes for campus facility, maintenance and infrastructure improvement.

In December 2019, the board approved a resolution to begin proceedings relating to the issuance of $15 million in notes to address the board's strategic goal to enhance, upgrade and renovate facilities to meet state and federal Americans with Disabilities Act compliance standards and modernize instructional spaces.

Renovations are planned to renovate former Health Sciences facility and the Biology and Chemistry buildings into a newly remodeled science, technology, engineering and math center. Additional work will be done on the college's parking lots along with heating and air system upgrades.

The tax notes will be repaid over the next 20 years through a combination of unencumbered general fund reserves and tax revenue.

The board will also consider a tuition increase of $2 per credit hour for in-district students and a $4-per-credit-hour increase for out-of-district students. An $8 increase is suggested for nonresident tuition per credit hour, along with a $1 increase per credit hour in the general fee. If approved, the move could generate an additional $175,000 for the college.

The meeting will be held in the Patman Room of the Truman Arnold Student Center on the TC campus, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, Texas.
