Area students attend youth leadership camp

High school juniors from Texarkana and surrounding schools attended the 24th annual Rotary Youth Leadership camp in Athens, Texas, last weekend.

RYLA is an international program that was created by Rotary International to encourage strong leadership in youths.

Each year, young people chosen for their leadership potential attend the all-expense-paid camp to develop and enhance leadership skills through activities conducted in an atmosphere of trust and respect. RYLA focuses on the following leadership characteristics: integrity, communication, planning, decision making, trust, teamwork, problem solving and self-esteem.

This year's attendees included:

Texas High School: Molly Kyles, Triann Nguyen, Sarah Lingle, Autumn Parrot and Connor Powell

Arkansas High School: Broderick Walton, Adelia Coleman and Garrett Fowler

Fouke High School: Sebastian Bolin and Autumn Peters

Genoa High School: Paige Davis and Jayden Dawson

Redwater High School: Isabella Fernandez, Meagan Parker and Ally Walston

Veritas Academy: Cole Herberg

Pleasant Grove High School: Phoebe Robertson, Braden Sarrett and Stella Angerer

Liberty Eylau High School: Victoria Davis

Hooks High School: Lauren Graham

Maud High School: Skyler Pate and Grace Raburn

Premier High School: Tyler Standridge

Seniors and adult team leaders also attended. They are: Laila Al-Dubais, Tonya Dunphy, Natalie Hale, Kera Daughtery, Joshua Carnes, Noni Hilley, Catherine Robertson, Jacob Carnes, Jade Ruth, Julia Hornok and Andi Darby.
