Partnership for the Pathway is gearing up for its 12th annual Run the Line half marathon Feb. 17.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. in downtown Texarkana.

Organizers expect more than 600 runners to be on the unique race course, which winds from Texas to Arkansas and back again before ending in Arkansas.

"I think it's unique. It's the only race we're aware of that's partially in Texas and Arkansas, so for runners who want a half marathon in all 50 states, they get two states with this race," said Julie-Ray Harrison, race coordinator. "We work very hard to make this a good race for the runners, a safe race. We couldn't do it without help from both cities They're fabulous to work with and the runners tell us when they're here everybody is so friendly. People wave and cheer for them along the course. They like that."

Runners can tackle the event individually or run as part of a two-person or four-person team.

The cost to enter is $55 per person for individual runners, $50 for each person on a two-person team or $45 for each participant on a four-person team. All participants receive a medal and T-shirt.

Money raised from the event will be used to help complete the trail around Bringle Lake.

"If we raise $35,000 to $40,000, we'll be happy," Harrison said. "We're always happy no matter what we raise. Partnership for the Pathway is an all volunteer organization so about 99 percent of the net profit goes toward trails."

Run the Line is part of the prestigious 2019 Arkansas Grand Prix Series for the 10th year. Information about the series is available at www.arkrrca.com. It is also the first race in the brand-new 2019 Natural State Running Series.

"We are the very first race in it. Runners have two years to complete eight of the races in the series and there are 11 races so that's exciting," Harrison said. "We've had reallly good feedback from runners."
