Uptown Drive

The CHRISTUS St. Michael Foundation's annual Gala takes place Feb. 1 at the Texarkana Convention Center-Hilton Garden Inn.

Uptown Drive will provide the entertainment by performing dance songs from Motown through the hits of the '80s, '90s, 2000s and current Top 40. The eight-piece band, which has a full three-horn section, has performed in venues such as Austin City Limits, the San Antonio Spurs half-time show, the CMA MusicFest, and South by Southwest Music Festival.

"We are excited to bring Uptown Drive to Texarkana for our 11th annual gala," said Susan Landreaux, executive director of the St. Michael Foundation. "This extremely talented group engages the entire audience through interactive entertainment, getting the audience on their feet to join in the fun. Those who attend the gala will not only enjoy an evening with Uptown Drive but will also be supporting our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ."

Proceeds from the Gala will help with the purchase of an additional Hologic Genius 3D high-definition mammography unit for use at the CHRISTUS St. Michael Imaging
Center,

"This technology allows radiologists to view 3D HD images of breast tissue in 1-millimeter slices, providing them with a greater visibility to see breast detail in a way never before possible," said Greg Giles, foundation chair. "3D HD definitely is another weapon in the fight against breast cancer that makes early detection even greater."

The evening's activities begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour followed by dinner and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Uptown Drive will perform at 9 p.m.

Individual tickets are $175 per person and can be purchased online at christusstmichaelfoundation.org or by calling Cristy Lummus, foundation development coordinator, at 903-614-2024. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Additional information about reservations or sponsorship opportunities may also be obtained by contacting Lummus.
