1st Choice Pregnancy Center honors volunteer for 20 years of service

1st Choice Pregnancy Center will honor a long-time volunteer at an open house from noon to 2 p.m. July 29 at the center, 602 Main St., Texarkana, Texas.

Jan Trammell has volunteered at 1st Choice for 20 years. She serves as a client advocate meeting with women in crisis helping them to process their situations.

"Many facing an unplanned pregnancy simply need someone to listen, and Jan does this with genuine love and concern for each client. Jan has also helped train other advocates for many years, and counsels with any client wishing to make an adoption plan. Because of her care and concern for these clients, 1st Choice was recognized in 2012 for the number of adoption referrals made by one agency in a single year," Kristie Wright, 1st Choice executive director wrote in an email to the Gazette.

"Jan is the kind of volunteer that is never idle, and never has to be asked to help. She will pick up a mop and a broom if she sees a need, haul the trash, make client bags - if she sees something that needs done, she does it with a smile on her face. We are grateful for her heart for and dedication to 1st Choice. If every volunteer worked with her love and passion, no non-profit in this community would want for anything. We hope you will join us at our open house and congratulate her on her dedicated service," Wright said.

1st Choice Pregnancy Resource Center is a pro-life, Christian organization that has assisted women (and men) facing an unplanned pregnancy in our community for 45 years. 1st Choice offers pregnancy testing, limited OB ultrasounds, peer counseling, childbirth, child safety, nutrition, and parenting education (including a Daddies Only class), community referrals, and Christian spiritual support.
