State Line Avenue improvements and beautification is the topic of today's meeting of the Joint Texarkana Community Committee.
The committee, comprising elected officials from Texarkana, Ark., and Texarkana, Texas, will hear about plans for the avenue and have a chance to discuss them and ask questions of experts.
Scheduled speakers are Steve Frisbee, Arkansas Department of Transportation district engineer; Michael C. Anderson, Texas Department of Transportation district engineer; and Rea Donna Jones, director of the Texarkana Metropolitan Planning Organization.
An initiative of the Texarkana USA Chamber of Commerce, the JTCC was formed in fall 2017 to share ideas and discuss common challenges facing both cities. It is not set up to take any action.
The meeting is open to the public. It is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Ark-Tex Council of Governments, 4808 Elizabeth St. on the Texas side.
