Riverbend board to consider purchasing contracts

Riverbend Water Resources District's Board of Directors will hold a special meeting at 12 p.m. today at their offices, 228 A Texas Ave., New Boston, Texas.

The board will consider draft water supply contracts with their member entities, which include the counties of Bowie, Cass and Red River, along with the TexAmericas Center and the cities of Annona, Atlanta, Avery, DeKalb, Hooks, Leary, Maud, Nash, New Boston, Redwater, Texarkana, Texas, and Wake Village.

The contracts are being renegotiated as part of the district's plan to purchase new infrastructure, including a new water treatment plant at TexAmericas Center, a new water intake structure on Wright Patman Lake and a new raw water line to TexAmericas.

Last month, the board approved a final application for a $200 million loan from the Texas Water Development Board's State Water Infrastructure Fund for Texas Program to help fund the projects.

TWDB will review the application and funding is planned to be finalized by the end of the year.

The agenda is available at rwrd.org.
