Equality Texarkana, a locally based nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for and defending the rights of the LGBTQ community, as well as anyone who is affected by inequality, will host the annual Day of Pride event Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pavilion 1 in Spring Lake Park.

This year's family-friendly Day of Pride event will be a return to the relaxed and low-key atmosphere of the organization's inaugural Pride Picnic. There will be free burgers, chips and water for all who attend. There will also be games, merchandise, art and lemonade for purchase.

Members of the group are committed to living a life based on respect, tolerance and acceptance of others no matter their ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race or political affiliation. All are welcome.
