TASD to consider free lunch for all students

The Texarkana, Ark., School District's Board of Directors will meet at 6 p.m. today to consider a program to provide free meals for all students, bids and the annual lawn maintenance contract.

Directors will consider approving a contract with Community Eligibility Provision, a program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to provide the meals at no cost. The Healthy Hunger Free Act of 2010 allows for high poverty districts to provide meals at no charge to the students.

The board will also consider bids for restroom partitions at Trice Elementary, band instruments and supplies for the College Hill Sixth Grade Academy and furniture for North Heights.

Also up for consideration is approval of the third year of the district's contract for US Lawns to handle ground services for the 2019-20 school year, special services contracts and the Redline and student/parent handbooks for the upcoming year.

The meeting will be held at the Administration Building, 3435 Jefferson Ave., Texarkana, Ark.
