A man whose arrest is connected to Operation Big Red, a law enforcement investigation into drug trafficking in the Clarksville, Texas, area, pleaded guilty Tuesday before a federal judge in Texarkana.

Kevin Wayne Guess, 46, appeared with Sulphur Springs, Texas, lawyer Heath Hyde for a plea hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven on an indictment charging him and several co-defendants with crimes related to the distribution of methamphetamine.

Guess entered a plea of guilty to conspiracy to distribute meth. According to a factual basis filed in the case, Guess and Brian Bradley Beers, James Wayne Johnson and Billy Carl Webb Jr. conspired to sell large quantities of meth in the Red River County area from June 2018 to July 2018.

Thus far, Guess is the third defendant in the case to plead guilty. Johnson pleaded guilty May 16. Webb pleaded guilty April 30. Beers' case is scheduled for a plea hearing July 1.

None of the men have been scheduled for sentencing. Those hearings will be scheduled before U.S. District Judge Robert Schroeder III once reports, including recommendations for sentencing under federal guidelines, are completed and received by the court.

When Operation Big Red was announced last year by the U.S. Attorneys Office in the Eastern District of Texas, the press statement included the names of seven men, all Clarksville residents, listed in a separate indictment accusing them of conspiring to distribute meth in Red River County.

Marvin Earl Baty; Jacory Dewayne Coulter; Gregory Lamont Dillard; Victor Gonzales; Miguel Angel Hernandez; Brandon Charles Nickerson; and Neopholis Dontray Scales are listed in the second indictment.

Gonzales is scheduled for a plea hearing June 25. A notice that Scales intends to enter into a plea has been filed but a hearing date has not been set.

The remaining defendants in that case are set for trial July 22.
