Storm knocks out power in the region

A number of people were without power Wednesday night after a thunderstorm moved through the area.

According to AEP-SWEPCO, 1,887 customers were without power about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in Texarkana.

According to the company's website, 382 Bowie-Cass Electric customers were without power in Bowie County. In Cass County, 995 customers were without power.

Downed trees and power lines were also reported in Texarkana, Bowie and Miller counties after the storm, including heavy rain and strong wind gusts, blew through Texarkana about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Storm sirens went off at about 7:30 p.m. in New Boston, Texas, but no rotation was reported.

Earlier in the evening, some locations in Sevier County, Ark., reported baseball sized-hail. Trees were also reported down on U.S. Highway 71 between De Queen and Lockesburg, Ark.
