Riverbend Water Resources District will hold a lunch and open house at 11:30 a.m. Monday, with a brief board meeting following the lunch. It will be held at the Riverbend Offices, 228A Texas Ave., New Boston, Texas.

The board will hold a discussion regarding an amendment to the contract with Robert J. Brandes Consulting for work to be done on the update of the Water Availability Model.

Directors will also consider a contract with LJA Engineering Inc. for assistance with submittal of an application for water rights in Wright Patman Lake.

Texarkana, Texas, which is one of Riverbend's 16 member entities, holds a contract for 180,000 acre feet of water in the lake. The member entities have all passed resolutions supporting the district in its pursuit of additional water rights above that number.

Riverbend Executive Director/CEO Kyle Dooley said Monday's agenda items go hand-in-hand in working to get those rights.

"The Water Availability Model report needs to be done to give us the most-updated number to see what the yield would be overall in Wright Patman along with studies showing what needs in the future would be," he said. "We don't have a hard and fast number."
